Flower Experiment
Since we are using dyes-natural or food coloring-to dye eggs anyway why not try this experiment?
Put water into three glasses and add drops of food coloring to each. Stand white flowers in each glass-good choices are daisies or carnations. After a few days the petals will start to change color. Leave for two more days and the flowers will be the same color as the water they're standing in. Ask the children why this happens. Get the children to record the experiment by drawing what they saw. Now take the flowers and put them in clear water and see what happens again. Where did the color go!?!
I love doing this just for myself as well as for the kids. It is fun to have all different colors of carnations and daisies to mix into baskets of eggs or for our altar. Experiment and have fun!
